The Jin Jiang Hotel is ideally located in the French Concession. It is 60 yards from the entrance to the Metro and right next to the HuaiHai Rd, one of the trendy shopping streets of Shanghai. There are taxis in the area at all times, and there is a wide choice of restaurants both within the complex and within 5 minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel is actually a complex of 3 hotels walled-in from the street with 2 secure entrances enjoying lovely, peaceful gardens. Most rooms overlook the gardens and therefore are very quiet. The staff all speak English and are corteous and attentive. The hotel appeals more to those wanting a warmer old-world charm than those requiring a modern glitzy hotel (which the Jin JIang is not). However, all facilities are up to date, just decorated in classical style. It is an ideal business hotel, generally available at moderate cost through hotels.com and I use it as my base whenever I go to Shanghai, which is frequently. It is of excellent standard, perfectly situated, close to transport links, and everyone knows it (not even too difficult to prononunce for a non-chinese when giving directions to a taxi driver).

Overall the hotel is fine. However 2 big problems. We paid for a room with a garden view and twin beds and when checking in, were given a room with frosted windows looking onto a dirty back alley. We were then told that the rooms with garden views only had single king size beds. We were charged the higher rate just the same. Also we were told that breakfast was included but were charge and extra 150RMB + tax/person for breakfast.

This hotel has a super location, hidden away off Huaihai Rd in it's own compound, almost like a university. Attractvie views of the Nanjing Rd skyscrapers. Friendly and helpful staff, all with excellent English - even the doormen. Good food, prompt service, all in all I couldn't recommend a hotel more.

Lovely hotel, very no-nonsense but quietly luxurious, nothing flamboyant. Service is non-intrusive. Air con doesn't work too well...and the rooms are not very sound proof, so you can hear people walking up and down. Rooms and linen very clean...and one of the few smoke free experiences in China!

We've stayed in hotels all over the United States and many other parts of the world and this hotel ranks as one of the best I've ever stayed in. The room was spacious, the amenities fantastic and the service was unbeatable. The staff was professional, frioendly and very responsive to our every need. They were very considerate of the language barrier and made every effort to understand the needs of guests and to assist you in coming and going to and from the hotel, ie- they always gave the cab drivers directions and made sure guests had hotel information written in Chinese. This was important since most of the cab drivers speak only Chinese. The room was equipped with robes, slippers, an umbrella, safe, nice tv and a beautiful bath and shower. Internet service was available and priced very reasonable.

some tiles needs repairing in bathroom,shower stall needs new resealing however over all clean bathroom and hot hot water and deep bathtub rooms worn but clean hardly any lobby and business center very small but helpful. Management helpful staff not attentive not well trained..one is not paying for that Historical Hotel in lovely garden surroundings good value go into the neighborhoods to eat Hotel expensive...........

This is a hotel with history. We stayed at a suite, which was huge. My husband could not believe what we got for the price we paid for, especially when comparing to the other hotels we have stayed. Our breakfast was included in the package. If you have to pay for it separately, the price is TOO expensive. It is at a great location. It is steps away from a GREAT chinese restuarant - SuZheHui.

excellent service, great English, convenient location. rooms are charming with what appears to be original Deco furnishings, and are in good condition. this is not a brand new hotel like others in the area, but makes up for it with charm. additionally, the grounds are beautiful.

Hotel is very close to metro station in an attractive area, plenty of shopping and eating places near by. Lovely large and comfortable room and good swimming pool. Didn't sample the restaurant as bought breakfast out.

I thought that a 4 star rating is too high for this hotel. The staff were very helpful, but some things irked, such as there was nowhere to sit in the lobby or bar area, not one chair, unless you were willing to buy a drink. I was turfed out of a small seating area for business people, too, even though I was on business. When I decided to buy a drink, just for the privilege of sitting on a chair, a tiny espresso coffee cost three time the price I pay in my favourite Parisien restaurant. Internet connection was extortionate. Five days' connectivity in my room cost me GBP50 or around USD100. 20 dollars a day is a rip off.

Really lovely hotel with excellent attentive staff. Had small problem with taxis despite showing name and address in Chinese who took us too wrong Jin Jiang but we were then transported across gardens by buggy first time and subsequently we could tell them. Only let down was the buffet for both breakfast and the evening meal. Very good selection but was practically unchanged from day to day and "hot" dishes only luke warm. If you are near the end of service dishes not replaced or renewed and many dried out. Did not matter other than for breakfast as there are so many fantastic places to eat within a few minutes walk. Lovely position and a quiet haven in such a busy city.

Historically interesting renovated in 1999 so showing its age to some extent. Definitely not a US chain atmosphere, reasonable rates, well located, many food options. Not as glamorous as the Okura Garden accross the street

I booked 4 Delux Suites in total. The rooms were very large and beautifully appointed with high ceilings. In each suite, in addition to a regular closet, there was also a large walk-in closet, 1.5 marble bath room, with a separate shower and bathtub in the full bathroom.

Very good location. But the room's carpets in the rooms were shot. Needing new carpets. For the five days I stay, they housekeeping did not vacume my rug. But they were good about changing the used towels.

Gamle Jin Jiang H. har mye sjarm, men det er ting som iriterer f.eks dusj som bør skftes ut, råtelukt i dusj nisjen? Ting er visst nok under oppgradering, selve rommene er herlige med 3 meters takhøyde. Det nyere bygget Cathay Garden er meget bra, her fungerer det meste. problemet er som på de fleste andre kinesiske hotell jeg har bodd på at engelsk kunnskapene er svært dårlige hos betjeningen.

Super beliggenhet, hyggelig stab og fint rom, utsikt over en park og byen - mye hotell for pengene! Gåavstand til Huaihai Road, den beste shoppegaten i Shanghai.

sehr gutes gastronomisches Angebot im Hotel allerdings auch nicht ganz preiswert. leider war das Frühstück nicht inklusive aber für ca. 15 EUR pro Tag alles in allem recht gut- breites Angebot an Speisen aber das Personal hätte freundlicher sein können. Der Fitness-Raum sowie die Bowling Bahn waren außer Betrieb!! Das war ärgerlich. Ansonsten kann ich das Hotel in jedem Fall weiter empfehlen! Würde jederzeit noch einmal dort einchecken.

Efter att ha tillbringat en dryg vecka på vandrarhem i Peking med väl så god service är jag lite besviken på servicenivån och deras ambitioner. Usel internetservice och dyr dessutom gjorde oss rent av besvikna. Annars fick vi vad vi betalade för med rymliga rum, rent och snyggt. Het is een plezierig hotel. Alle voorzieningen aanwezig. Het 24 uursrestaurant is uitstekend, veel privacy en prima kwaliteit van het eten. Bar ook uitstekend met pianomuziek.

Läge i French Concession perfekt. Mycket hög standard på mat, service, inredning. Vi bodde i Södra Flygeln, och alltså inte i det runda höghuset. Rekommenderas varmt.
